no one tanked their legacy harder than Prince did, you can trace it all the way back to 1985 when he did a complete opposite of the PR era/look/sound

    sad but true

Meh he was we still scoring huge hits back then, the L really takes shape with the Slave stuff (which in the long run he was right about, but in the short term it really made him look like a clown) but him not letting this stuff up on YT is the one to beat

Guy’s barely in the top 500 monthly Spotify listeners these days, and he was one of the biggest selling artists of the 1980’s. Marketing was always P’s Achilles heel

The fact that Monty Python put all their s*** on YouTube for free which resulted in their physical sales increasing 300% I get wanting to get paid but he really couldn't fathom what that type of exposure could do for him

How in the hell am I just hearing this demo? This finally leaked?

Which goes to show that Prince was on that s*** but he knew it wasn’t for his records. It’s true, I see why people were like “ maaaaaaaan you made this ?!?!?” Every single day he had something 😳

This has to be leaked from Jesse Johnson. Jesse said on questlove podcast Prince had given him drum machine demos of alllllllllllllll the early work of For You & self titled lp sessions.

Before he would lay the live drums , he would do it on a drum machine. This was how he would stay sharp on drum machines & live drum kits.

“If the timeline is accurate, "Neurotic Lover's Baby's Bedroom" was recorded about a half a year before the sessions for his 1978 debut For You. Unlike the highly polished ballads and eager-to-please pop songs featured on that album, this track displays a very strong Parliament-Funkadelic influence.

Prince trades the sweet falsetto of his early records for a George Clinton-style spoken word delivery. At the two-minute mark, he unleashes a wild, extended guitar solo that makes even the one featured on 1979's "Bambi" seem tame. The risque lyrics, which at one point offer instructions on autoerotic asphyxiation, offer an early preview of the sexually charged subject matter he would tackle on future tracks such as "Head," "Sister" and "Darling Nikki."

And the sound of this makes it evident prince did go to a pfunk show and try to tape it.
