i agree from a general net perspective this is useless, but it's more political strategy than anything. both parties get what they want out of it ultimately. liberal boomers and the DNC-allied press get their semantic impeachment, and republicans get to make enemies out of democrats for impeaching their guy.
that said, i am still convinced this is a conspiracy from pelosi & schiff in order to plunge non-establishment freshmen house dem numbers. in a lot of freshmen dem reps districts, approval numbers have plummeted since the introduction of the impeachment process. it's been known that pelosi and the DNC do not like a number of newer dems for being anti-establishment. I suspect this is a political posturing move to attempt to alienate these. Pelosi and most establishment dems will be re-elected no matter what, and get bonus points for posturing against trump. Most freshman reps get the opposite for this, as shown in the approval ratings

it's less because people are defending trump as well per-se but more because they're disappointed the house reps are focused on s***ting on trump as opposed to fixing issues. people are in debt, healthcare sucks in much of the country, infrastructure is terrible, and numerous other issues. they voted most of these reps in because they want these issues addressed, not useless political posturing that will die in senate

Kinda sad how you don’t seem to grasp the significance of impeachment whatsoever.

I thought the freshmen were more focused on issues other than trump. I got the impression that the establishment ghouls were the ones posturing with their hatred of trump

they may be individually, but the issue is when the impeachment process goes on, it basically forces the participation of the house on that instead of on whatever they may want to do elsewhere (especially in the media cycle). Even if they don't personally want to focus on this, they basically have to, and good luck to them for coverage for any other bill or anything from the media during this cycle.
