I can see the argument they're making from a future thinking perspective and in a vacuum they might be onto something but the idea that gun rights in the US would be overturned is a pipe dream because of what in practice that would entail. Do you want to be the official going door to door collecting assault weapons which need to be turned in? If they want to try to simply ban future gun sales that may be somewhat possible but it's going to cause an absolute disaster in terms of the current gun culture & circulation that exists.
