i do agree theres a lot of value in these games being portable and that devs would likely wanna hit the best resolution possible but the system just does not seem to be strong enough to be hitting those marks lol

even cyberpunk had to make a lot of compromise with the resolution to be able to run decently on the switch 2, i just wanna be able to cop an occasional third party game and not have it be the worst version of the game

I agree, which Is why CD projekt made use of dlss, something which still some ports don't have for some reason and would improve things on many games struggling.
I expect for the future that switch 2 versions will be the worst ones again because its a tablet, there's no escaping that. A portable console will never beat a home console, but the ports will get better as more devs start using dlss and know the in and outs of the system.
We got the amazing nier automata port 5 years after the switch dropped for example, and besides the 30fps it looked surprisingly close to the PS4 version, it even had full resolution, one of the very few third parties that hit that.
With the switch its always been about how much effort and money is being put in the port, because you can't brute force games to run there.

And btw there are plenty good ports already. Not tryna make a list but no man's sky, apex legends, street fighter 6, Hogwarts legacy and even final fantasy 7 remake according to footage of people playing it recently all look great and close to series s.
The bad ports don't tell the full story here

I’m gonna be brutally honest, y’all are on some s*** if you think Switch 2 so far sucks lmao

I swear y’all expect Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Zelda, 3D Mario and Splatoon in the first year launch of Switch 2 or it’s a trash console

Y’all have 8 years of Switch 1 in your head and think that first year was better then Switch 2

Switch 2 is almost 3 months in and is MILES better then Switch 1 in its 3 months… AND ITS NOT CLOSE TO ME

Switch 1 was competing in an entirely different market. The novelty of a handheld was vastly different back then - so they largely "got away" with more.

A 2025 handheld getting years old ports that run like s*** isn't cool when there are a ton of much better choices on the market now.

I guess it depends what you want from it - with Cyberpunk I really thought it would almost bridge the gap and deliver new-ish titles with that level of performance, but it feels like Cyberpunk is the exception and not the standard, which is a massive shame.

So I’m playing MKW and tryna beat every cup in 100CC but I’m still on 1.0 cus I saw the patch notes for the update from a week or 2 ago saying they made all CPU’s weaker in every mode… and I can see why.

In MK8D, my default is playing 150CC. But even in 50CC in MKW, I can tell some CPUs are tough to beat. And especially in 100CPU. I’m winning them all of a sudden in the last lap, the CPUs sudden get better and I lose last minute lol. Like 100CC is legit tough and you can’t make ANY mistakes lol

But I don’t mind, it’s making me better at this game even though doing all the grinding and wall tricks is still hard to get down perfectly lol

Also I can see why some people are mixed on MKW. I do often see some people say MKW is underwhelming and kinda just “ehhh” to them compared to previous games. It’s definitely a different take on the series. I kinda felt like that too at first but you really have to master the game mechanics for this game to hit for you. If you’re not grinding or wall jumping or leaning the different routes, the courses can seem too big and boring

    again, it’s been 2 months

give it some time to get more cyberpunk-tier ports

Last lap, got hit with 4 red shells in 30 seconds

Yeah no wonder they lowered the difficulty lmao

i thought it was pretty fun as a casual mario kart fan but it'll probably be a lot better overtime with more updates

lowkey tho kirby air riders looks way better than it

I think MK8D is the best Mario Kart IMO. The most memorable tracks with the most content.

But give it a couple years, and World will have A LOT of extra DLC content

Air Riders looks really cool. The City Trails is suppose to be the premiere mode but honestly, it looks boring to me

The “traditional” racing mode in Air Riders looks more appealing to me IMO

It took me 3 hours to 3 star the Star Cup in 100CC

  • Aug 23, 2025

Took me 2 tries and 20 minutes to 3 star the 100CC Shell Cup. Such a weird dip in difficulty

    30 fps

and it dips if too much is happening on the screen

I think it actually looks pretty good, I think it's a UE5 game and the whole industry seems to struggle to optimise that s***

The drops with the fire look weak as f*** but other than that it's not bad

Ngl, the third party games (Cronos, Elden Ring, FF17 Remake) look visually better than I expected, but the question is if the frame rate dips can be ironed out before (or after) launch or if we'll just have to bite the sour apple if we want to play these on Switch 2.

ff7 remake seems to be the best one performance wise and visually between the three but that doesnt entirely surprise me since it was on the ps4 and its older than elden ring

since square confirmed rebirth and the last game in the trilogy are coming to the switch 2 im more curious how they're gonna perform on here since those are ps5 games
