The first game kind of is, but the mode people care about and the most beloved of the 3 available is basically a battle royale with roguelike elements.

City trial was a multiplayer mode where players spawned in a city map and in 5 minutes had to gather upgrades for their vehicles to improve their stats, then a random minigame would be chosen and the winner would be the last one standing iirc. You could even change vehicles mid run if you found them, the city map had some insane level design, there were events that would change the map or be dangerous, you could steal upgrades from other players by hitting them.

The other two modes were more traditional, although pretty technical to master.

I think this new one will focus on an improved version of city trial and add other unconventional modes for a racing game, all with a multiplayer focus probably. Im honestly pretty interested since city trial was so ahead of its time and was made in a few months as an attempt to salvage a failing project. He chose this as a passion project like with kid Icarus uprising, so im sure he had tons of ideas he wanted to explore.

Im sure it will be a fundamentally different experience than Mario kart world

if metroid prime 4 comes out in 2025 as scheduled, all u impatient complainers are going to lose your complaining rights for future releases. they have told us its coming in 2025. we will get a trailer and a release date soon enough.

now if i'm wrong, and it does get delayed into 2026, then your complaining will be validated.

If the bandai namco Metroid prime 4 was so bad Nintendo had to restart development from 0 and apologize for it, yeah im glad they delayed it and gave it to retro. Most companies would've quietly canceled the whole thing and the prime series would be dead. The wait was long, but metroid fans are used to waiting. Dread took 20 years to be made and its a classic

I get that, they're being even more cagey than usual this time around for some reason. They even doing a lot more game focused directs than ever, they're going through some crazy marketing changes with the switch 2.

Well unlike Kirby air riders MP4 got 2 trailers and 2 demos so i can see where the frustration comes from
