First Switch 2 game just got announced

The official Pokémon account always says “releasing on Nintendo switch” but for Pokémon Legends Z-A for the first time it specifically says “will launch on Nintendo switch systems in 2025”

Lmao I was literally going to all the YouTube descriptions for past releases and didn’t think to check detective pikachu

It is interesting that they updated their language at some point though. They didn’t talk about 2017-2022 Pokémon games like this from what I can tell, maybe that’s just the updated marketing language for 2023 onward probably meaningless unfortunately

From what we’ve heard an early 2025 launch for switch 2 seems most likely so i can’t see this dropping beforehand tbh

Z-A should release in late 2025. For the love of god, please let Game Freak cook with this one
And if they’re not planning a separate Switch 2 version then at least make the game enhanceable when running on Switch 2 hardware.

Speaking of, did Legends Arceus run well? I might cop it someday.

Def cop it! Legends Arceus easily the best pokemon game on switch. It ran incredibly smooth and looked really good too (with the exception of caves)

Gamefreak has two dev teams so this won’t be the same jokers that made scarlet/violet. The arceus team knows their stuff

It runs better than Violet and lets go lol, and it’s the best Pokémon game in a minute

As we talked about, I’m def nervous about this transition to Switch 2 but all this smoke about Switch 2 being a huge step up in power is exciting. I really hope this happens and we can finally get some heavy hitter AAA 3rd party games on Switch 2, even if they won’t look or run as PS5 / Xbox Series counterparts

But yeah I agree with the GTA6 point. I’m sure a specially made Switch specific port will be made like a year or 2 down the line after it comes out

its obvious their focus is completely on 2025, id set my expectations for this year to really low

There’s a rumor from Jeff Grub who’s pretty credible that he heard Prime 4 would release this year for Switch 1. I don’t buy it though. If they’re pressed for games they could just push TTYD to the holiday release spot, although all indications show that one is coming soon

I don't think they're pressed, Nintendo's known to hold games after all. The last fire emblem had been finished for 3 years before they decided to put it out for example

Switch becoming the #1 best-selling system of all time seems inevitable now with the next Pokémon Legends entry releasing on it still.

Going from their worst-selling system ever, which is Wii U (if you don’t count Virtual Boy) to their best-selling one is insane to say the least.
