The last Partner Showcase (June 2022) was actually a pretty good showing
    -Persona ports
    -Live A Live demo
    -Portal shadow-drop
    -Harvestella
    -Dragon Quest Treasures
    I’d give it a 8/10.
It was better than the previous general Directs in the last year or so (except the one with Marios Wonder/RPG).

Still, keeping my expectations low for this upcoming one lol

Previews for Princess Peach: Showtime! have been published.
And those looking forward to it may want to reconsider

Basically it’s an easy-peasy game aimed at young players.

They were only allowed to play the introductory/tutorial levels… the first levels in any Nintendo game are super easy, acting like that’s representative of the experience overall is extremely disingenuous

How is it extremely disingenuous when most modern Mario games are easy as s***
You’ve gotta accept that most of the time Nintendo makes games with kids in mind, and these journalists sensed that vibe heavily from their preview sessions with PPS.

Mario games start easy, in the intro levels, but take for instance mario wonder’s final test and final-final test which are very difficult, or the Star world levels. Nobody would call any of those levels easy or “for kids.”

Acting like the tutorial levels of a game being easy means the entire game was made for kids is definitely disingenuous or I guess best case scenario it’s delusional

The real questions are how long is the game and is it fun we’ll have to see

So like 5% (or less) of a given modern Mario game can actually be considered hard

I feel like maybe you’re too much of a gamer to realize how difficult Mario is for normies, most of my friends won’t play Mario with me because it’s too frustrating, and they actually like and play other games

I’ve accepted a long time ago that Nintendo had to dumb down the difficulty in their modern games cus of casuals, and that’s fine by me.

It’s just sometimes there are games that are so outrageously easy that it sucks out the fun out of it; Kirby’s Epic Yarn is the epitome of that kind of gameplay.

I was actually looking forward to PPS from the very first teaser shown, but the more snippets of gameplay they showed the more basic and rote it appeared.. Seems like a miracle to believe that somehow the game will get more interestingly challenging as you progress through it. I just accepted that the game wasn’t for me. It was designed to be Sally’s first game.

Yeah I had to give up on Kirby no matter how much I like the aesthetic

I remember when Switch 1 was originally planned to launch in Q4 2016 and the previous Nintendo president, Tatsumi Kimishima, pointed out that the system’s launch was delayed cus they wanted a steady flow of software ready for it, most likely to avoid the Wii U-esque software droughts that plagued that platform.

We may be seeing history repeat itself with Switch 2. So basically Year 1 of Switch 2 could be exceptional 1st party-wise

    Hopefully that's it!

Kirby has been easy as f*** since its Inception. One of kirbys base powers is literally flying over stages an enemies, there are very few pits, the first game was designed to be easy, its not a recent development. And yes nintendo's biggest titles are meant to be easy to pickup and hard to master so they can reach the widest possible audience, i promise you no average person has cleared the 5 star levels in mario wonder, or gotten some special moons in odyssey. But they do also have games that cater to hardcore players (xenoblade, Metroid, fire emblem) or little kids (Yoshi, Kirby, this Peach game). There's nothing strong with the latter, there's enough games for grown men in the industry, let little girls have fun with this hobby too

Also, grown women might be the demo too, might sound like a generalization but a lot of women arent good at videogames because its historically not been a medium catering to them, so this game might be the perfect difficulty for them as well

I don’t know why I’m still being lectured when I’ve already made it pretty clear that I came to that realization (that most Nintendo games are designed for children) on my own

It wouldn’t hurt no one to have a hardcore difficulty mode for the Princess Peach game now would it
Us veteran Nintendo gamers who’ve been around since the Super Nintendo days should rise up and resist the pandering wokeness that’s taken ahold of our beloved gaming corporation
    Who’s with me

  • Feb 21, 2024

Actual serious counterargument: the Luigi’s Mansion subseries ain’t hard af, but there’s still a trickiness to it that requires some gamer dexterity.
And that’s evidently a game geared towards children, and yet it’s not easy to the point where it feels like you’re going through the motions.
There’s a delicate difficulty balance that can be achieved here, and that could’ve worked its way in the Princess Peach game.
But like I said, it’s absolutely fine if a certain game’s not meant for me; there are so many decent games that caters to any kind of gamer already.

Using Luigi’s Mansion as an example cus it’s a Mario-based subseries that uses a fixed camera like Princess Peach: Showtime!, which can actually be considered to be in the same genre as LM.
And what’s more is we don’t know yet who’s the developer behind PPS; it could very well be Next Level Games.

Also this was hilarious to read: I read over at ResetEra a post in the PPS preview thread that said Nintendo dumbing down games to young girls like that could be seen as sexist LMFAO
    Dear lord..
