Fans aside, I bet even Nintendo would disagree with your sentiment, they probably think the ps4/ps5 releases were a smart move. almost 99% guaranteed they make it so switch 2 has less “exclusives” because they’ll just drop a lot of graphically inferior versions of games for switch 2 on switch 1 in order to boost sales. Mk10, smo2, mp4, Pokémon gen10 and hd ports of windwaker/twilight Princess could all be cross-gen

I think my point is that “next gen” doesn’t feel next gen

It still feels like we’re still stuck in the transition phase between gens, even with Sony saying they are half way already

Console exclusive games matter in selling consoles and PS / Xbox have been moving extremely slow

Usually the big 3 have a 2 year-ish transition but it’s been more then that and it still feels like they’re tryna hold on to previous gen

We’re just in a weird spot for gaming

And I’m a Nintendo fan boy but I have that same energy for Nintendo too

I’m extremely worried Nintendo will fumble next gen

They REALLY have to get this right and I’m afraid Nintendo will pull a WiiU with the Switch 2

I’m worried too but also a counterpoint maybe is that Wii U was really just a switch 0.5, it was like a prototype console that never should’ve been released, but it ended up evolving to become the switch

The wii-u was them experimenting with the formula, and the switch was them having finally perfected it. So now the switch 2 or whatever they call it is basically just gonna be a lay-up, they just have to take the perfect formula but give it modern hardware to elevate the experience

Let the industry crash and burn, so it can rebuild in better conditions.

They'd be wasting the holidays if they wait for next year, and i doubt a switch on year 8 with no heavy hitter will sell that much in that time. Maybe its referring to fiscal year 2025, which can mean 2024 as well
