If Xbox keeps trying competitively then the industry will be all the better for it. Them putting Game Pass everywhere they can is their way of trying to keep the Xbox brand alive.

I’m not tryna deny GamePass is a crazy ass good deal but it will kill Xbox eventually

• Game Pass is what sets Xbox apart from its rivals.
• PlayStation and Nintendo are outselling due to the strength of the brand and exclusives, respectively.
• Xbox owners still buy games that aren’t on Game Pass (obviously they won’t be buying the games that can be accessed from a service they’re already subscribed to).

Wanting Xbox to fail is a bad outlook imo. Sure you may resent them for their strong push towards digital and/or the lack of worthwhile exclusive games, but we need competition in the gaming market so that we’re not screwed over by other corporations, and we’ll get better products/deals because of it.

2023 was the year Xbox 1st-party was supposed to bounce back from the nonexistent 2022 output, and yet..
Redfall -> Starfield -> Forza Motorsport
all failed to resonate with the core-gamer audience on a wide scale.

So this is what I meant by s*** looking dire for Xbox 1st-party. Thank goodness for Hi-Fi Rush from earlier this year though cus otherwise there’d be absolutely nothing.

However that summer 2023 showcase looked very promising for the future, so things may be looking up for them.. But WHEN are the next games dropping??? Seems like Hellblade II is next up, and TGA 2023 next week will have something from Xbox.

Hellblade is another case of a multiplat game becoming exclusive. It's gonna flop.

Yeah, Hellblade is a niche series (although it kinda fits in with PlayStation’s style of 3rd-person cinematic games). I don’t see it being a must-play like Starfield was, in the sense that people will drop whatever it is they’re doing and sign up for Game Pass asap.
Xbox just needs it to be a Metacritic 85+ game to help generate some buzz for the brand in the core-gamer circle.

I think Fable will be the next massive Xbox game with mainstream appeal. I’d love it if it were Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 instead, but that doesn’t seem likely. Who knows?

-February: regular Nintendo Direct
-March: Switch 2 reveal
-October or November: Switch 2 launch

Nintendo usually releases a brand-new platform in November (or March), but since Mario Odyssey and Mario Wonder have been October launches, there’s a possibility that the next 3D Mario (aka Switch 2 launch title) could be an October release as well.

Switch is a great console but Nintendo really needs to stop the low budget parts permanently for the rest of their consoles this is egregious now
