imagine thinking performance is graphics
imagine thinking "only nerds care about graphics" when referring to Nintendo having extremely poor frame rate and resolution performance in their biggest titles
i could give 2 f***s about textures, animations, effects, lighting and all of that s*** as long as the performance isn't abysmal
u Nintendo bootlicking weirdos are lucky that BOTW came out March 2017 because if it came out anytime after 2017 it would've been LAUGHED at for that garbage 900p 27fps performance
Zelda LA still has significant fps drops between every screen transition? STILL???
and overclocking the console didnt work either lmao

This makes you a Nintendo guy in a way. Most of their games are driven by gameplay and the story takes a backseat. I’m having a hard time finding a game from Nintendo that I played and story stood out. It seems like Nintendo’s philosophy.
yeah i can agree with this, the gameplay first philosophy is definitely something that keeps me coming back to nintendo. with JRPGs though, whether its first party or licensed third party, nintendo can still go toe to toe with the best of em on story so i get why people would go into something like SMT5 expecting more than whats there.
Yall still dont understand only nerds give a damn about graphics, none of that matters to the average consumer or to the quality of the game

This
Literally - no one cares
Its Nintendo, not f***in xbox
I wish more developer focused less on graphics and more on gameplay ;)
Atleast i can be happy knowing switch is releasing 10/10 games while my ps4/5 is just sitting there dusting cuz most their games are trash

Hoping triangle strategy delivers on the story

Yeah better performance is welcomed, but im not losing my s*** over some framedrops, i still play n64 zelda oot @ 20fps and have fun. Its only right yall complain about performance but understand its not a priority for many

yeah it’s possible to both recognize the inherent value and playability of games developed below the industry standards atm (classic retro games and even most of Nintendo’s current output) while also wishing/recognizing that one of the biggest companies in gaming would step up and put the time in to develop tech that can stand up to that of their peers.

lmao 10/10 games?
SMT V vs Persona 5
which is 10 out of 10???

im literally ONLY demanding performance from the $59.99 USD games with AAA dev time/budgets and part of massive Nintendo owned franchises, and maybe include Switch exclusives like Astral Chain, MH Rise, MHS2, NMH3 and SMTV
no excuse for Kirby ATFL (the next big one after Pokemon) to run at 30fps and less than 1080p and people who disagree dont need to speak up, since theyll cop regardless, right?
if the console was 30fps locked i wouldnt care, but there are a lot of 60fps games on the Switch and the last big releases arent them (besides Metroid Dread, game looks and runs phenomenal)

hey i mean i made a personal statement itt about not spending another dime on games until we get a better console
and u argued it
im cool with u enjoying the console bro, Nintendo still an amazing company for being able to make a console AND make games, but ya i gotta be real we need to set a standard as a community EVENTUALLY if we want to truly enjoy the new games coming and not keep replaying older ones
When do we think the next wave of OLEDS coming? I wanna grab one soon
Graphics don’t matter IMO
theyre not everything but they can elevate games so much
all my favourite games have incredible art direction elevated by advances in technology
like i love the aesthetic of Kingdom hearts 2 and it wouldnt have been possible on an older generation of hardware.
now with nintendo essentially being a generation behind its gonna be hard for them to keep up with advances in art direction even if the advances between generations are more minor
but persona 5 is a good example of this where i guess its not possible on the switch? and the art elevates that game a lot as well
were still at the start of the gen but its only a matter of time before someone uses the new gen hardware to create like an artistic masterpiece (not ultrarealistic but instead using rtx and effects to create somethign really beautiful)

Persona 5 is a PS3 game it’s very possible on the switch. Sony’s exclusivity is why you do not see mainstream Persona on Switch, not hardware limitations
Direct SZN approaching. I feel like the week before Pokemon drops tbh. But definitely first couple weeks of February if not this month.
Adding my two cents to the conversation above about graphics/performance vs gameplay:
I value both aspects, and we all do since they both contribute to the overall experience we have, but at the end of the day, gameplay should be the more distinguishing factor imo, at least when it comes to 'video games' as opposed to 'movies'. Why? Because video games are supposed to be an 'interactive' experience, where the player interacts and controls the character and outcome of the game, as opposed to a movie where we have no control over what happens.
Pretty scenery can certainly bring you pleasure and uplift your appreciation of a game or movie, but like I stated above, a video game is not just supposed to be 'watched', it's supposed to an interactive experience where our input is what controls the character and pushes the story and game forward, unlike a movie where you just watch it with no control or input whatsoever.
A game can look incredible but what does it matter if the gameplay is boring and not stimulating and feels like you are not in charge of what goes on or what actions the character makes? It's like a person who looks good but has no personality. On the other hand, gameplay is like a great personality that in many instances can outshine imperfect looks and performance. The most optimal thing for us consumers/gamers is of course to get more of both.
