Every questionable decision had to do with Tanabe (all coming from the man's mouth, he talks about sol valley, viola and sylux in this same interview). With him retiring, there's no need to keep following these traits. Also, a woman directing a metroid game with samus being a female protagonist is very interesting, i wonder how she'll handle things.
