Because you might not be picking this high again for a while and the QB class next year is weak. Lance isn’t ready year 1 but I can’t think of a better situation for him to walk into

if the idea is to win now while we still have good matt ryan play and julio jones can still walk, then surely the best idea is to pick players that help us win rn not 3 or 4 years down the line

if they wanted a total rebuild why rework matts contract? i think the FO made their choice with that move

Could start Lance in year 2 or year 3 (I don’t think that’s crazy at all)

And I just don’t think even with Pitts that team makes much noise, there’s about 6 teams I like in NFC more than Atlanta

Could have possibly been preparing for a Ryan trade once the new guy is ready to start? I don't know the contract details so I'm not sure whether they make that scenario easier or more difficult for the Falcons

In any case, as supremely talented as Pitts is, and he is a generational talent, I don't think he's raising Atlanta's ceiling enough to the point where they're contending for a superbowl. The defense is still pretty far away from where it needs to be, and there are a few more complete teams in the NFC alone (Bucs, Rams, Packers, 49ers) that are all positioned far better than Atlanta over the next few years with or without Pitts

yeah i like the idea of pitts but at the same time like I said earlier it'd be fun but there are other areas we should address. offense has never been our issue (at the position level, scheme is another issue entirely)

    Chief Julio

So it looks like neither Chase or Pitts would’ve been there at 6...

All things considered getting another 1st rounder out of it in a trade back for a non-QB ain’t bad at all

This is how I'm feelin. I was mad earlier when I saw Chase's workout, but realized it's entirely a possibility that the trade was initialized as a 3 team simultaneous trade, even though it wasn't announced as that, and the Dolphins made it clear their move @ 3 was gonna be Chase and they'd do the trade because he's still probably at play for them at 6.

Yeah and I obviously don’t think taking Pitts is a bad move for Atlanta, but I think taking Lance is the better move for them

This truly is the class to get your QB. The 2022 and 2023 classes are looking very weak compared to this one, with 2024 too far out to tell yet.

If you have an old QB, an expiring QB, a QB you don't think you can win a superbowl with, or just no QB in general, you aren't going to find a better opportunity over the next few years to get a franchise QB than in this draft. Putting it off until 2022 or 2023 is a fool's errand because those classes are incredibly top heavy at the QB position and even the guys at the top of each class aren't as talented as the guys we have in this class.

We aren't going to see another Lawrence for 10 years, another Fields for 5, another Lance/Wilson for 2-3

Even Mac Jones would be in contention for QB1 in the 2022 and 2023 classes

Exactly, I understand if they take Pitts but this is their best chance to get a QB

to be clear I wasn't saying we should pick pitts as the guy to put us over the top, was just speaking generally on picking a future QB vs picking to help rn. there are a lot of areas we need immediate help at. its partly why i think we still might trade down

At that point you're comparing positional value and factoring in what the classes in the future have to offer, and QB will forever and always be the most important position on the field. If they truly want a TE, Lance this year + Mayer or Billingsley next year >>>>> Pitts this year and Slovis or Daniels next year

    unless our play is penei

  • Mar 31, 2021

Hearing fields is at play at 14

  • Mar 31, 2021

Damn man we need so much

    CB2
    WR2
TE1 (unless Trautman takes a huge leap which he can)
    Depth on the dline

But we got 8 picks, would like to trade down so we can get like 10 though
