its interesting that roc only started doing that when he got a big enough fanbase while still releasing s*** on streaming just way later. and mach was doing it when he was virtually unknown but as soon as he got a fanbase he started making his music less exclusive and more accessible to everyone

now navy on the other other hand dropped like three projects, got relatively large in a short period of time, and now wants to do the whole exclusive thing with a very significant body of new unreleased work

he can do what he likes but its clearly not been received well

also mach said it’ll take 3 years to bring the rest to streaming so he’s been doing a lot. i mean navy sold it all out so he knows there’s an audience but it’s still a bit odd i can’t lie but i gotta just respect it and keep it moving. also i like how roc only sells physicals to accompany the album and has downloads too

I spend a good portion of my money on concerts, certainly don't have 270$ (+shipping from US to Europe) for a release. I can respect them doing this for physicals as rich people collector's items so they can get some money but my favorite music is usually the music I can listen to

I only disagree in that an artist can choose to release their work, or not. It can be simply about the joy of creating and finishing the work. If they don't want their work (time and money and creative output) diminished to streaming, I can't be mad at that. And we know digital downloads for purchase only leads to leaks. I guess he felt a vinyl only release was best to protect what he worked for. And I'm sure we'll all hear it in time.
