Engineers: always keep the bass in mono , if you dont it'll get in the way of the vocal, other instruments, and cause phase issues

k so if u listen to War by Drake the bass is panned right to keep away from the vocal, there are a lot of exceptions to the rules.
The bass is probably in mono most of the time, but there is likely some stereo widening on the master bus

I'd hope everyone knew this already. But remember you can layer bass to give it the perception of stereo.
You can take out like 100 hz of sub bass and isolate the above frequencies as a tonal layer of the bass thats still in mono. Then put distortion and chorus, etc.

do u eq the chorus, and distortion tho?

Yes i do. Its a really precise thing

Keeping the entire bass in mono isn't always necessary
It's only really necessary below 150-200hz. It can sound good if up to "x" hz is in mono, entirely depends upon the sound.
Phasing in the sub makes the sub cancel out and feel less full
The entire concept of Reece basses is built on phasing. Just gotta keep the sub in mono. You can do this via mid/side eq, seperate sub bass, layering, or sends.
Why does serum use so much cpu
Record out of serum and then chuck the .wav in a sampler
then remove the serum patch
Do I have to learn music theory before learning sound design?
both are inherently linked together, really depends upon your workflow and what you're making
Sound design is really open ended. Processing samples is sound design. Doing some cool stuff with a chord is sound design. Filtering a sample is sound design
That being said, if you wanna make rnb, get the jazz theory down lol

True, I forget I can just bounce s*** out sometimes
I just hate doing it because I like the flexibility of changing s*** on the fly. Xfer needs to make a lite version

Idk I really like working in samples
When I use serum without bouncing I just endlessly tweak it
When I'm using a sample I can change the start point, loop a part of it, do cool stuff like that
I feel like sampling gives u a lot more flexibility

It's more of a convenience thing for me more than anything else. Like I can probably get the sound I'm looking for if I choose to tweak it after it's bounced with other plugins depending what I'm doing. But it's just easier to do it in the plugin itself. You feel me? Both have their uses.

Yea
I just like that bouncing commits me to a sound
Iβm bored watching The art of mixing
Great video
I learned quite a bit from that video
An acquaintance asked me to make a soundtrack for his video game
I asked for 60$ per song or percentage
He initially only wanted to pay me if the game succeeds
What do you think?

If you're good at something never work for free. So no, have him pay you
