One weakness I've noticed bout myself is I can never stick to the initial melody / chord progression for a beat. I'm always changing progressions cause I feel s*** gets too repetitive

I say it's a weakness cause I find it hard to stay on theme. It sounds cool, but the songs I consider classics tend to stay on topic throughout and only switch up on occasion then come back home. I'm trying to mimic those so once you hear the first few seconds it's like "oh that's such n such by will fujiwara" you know ? My songs weren't memorable imo until I started working on that

The song I just dropped ^^^^^^^ up there is a good example of me trying to stay on theme while still driving the song forward without being repetitive. The original version of that song, I had the pads change progression every drop and the baseline was changing as well. It wasn't consistent where as now I feel it's very consistent and memorable

Why am I so uninspired I can't make anything for the life of me

beats are fye, esp the first one. i just feel like the mix is way off on the first one. all the drums are so quiet, the melody overpowers it and even washes the 808 on some parts. are you EQing the lows out of the melody? it'll free up space for the 808. use a maximizer or something on the master too to pump the drums.
