    Use it on your bed

my bed was busy with my 3 guitars all weekend

overall, I don’t have a lot of space in my room and it’s annoying to set everything up and take things down. I also have a cat and this man took my chair I legit use a steel chair most days

my live rig rn is an octatrack an a***og rytm an erica synths bass line and an allen and heath dj mixer

i’m thinking about a digital synth rn just don’t know what i want yet

i kind of consider myself more of an electronic instrumentalist than anything lately

I’ve peeped at this one and it looks awesome. waldorfmusic.com/produkt/blofeld-desktop-white

oh i used to have a blofeld before i lost it in a fire. i kinda didn’t love it tho tbh, i really liked that it had a multi mode but programming it is kind of a nightmare. the menu diving make live editing a total pita and the sounds quality is very tinny and the effects sound horrible

honestly i’m thinking about an iridium or smth if i go waldorf

if im going deep with it i’d probably do a virus or like one of the asm jawns.

yeah my whole studio/house burned down in 2025

having something multi-timbral is good but i have found that it makes you nervous to dig/edit

for the height, aim the monitors' acoustic axis at your ears in the chair you actually mix in. equal distance from each speaker to you, and roughly the same distance between them, is a useful starting point. Genelec has a clear diagram here: genelec.com/monitor-placement

what clicked for you after switching to Ableton: getting ideas down, or turning loops into a finished arrangement? curious which part actually helped you finish this one

Very simply the software itself seemed easier to navigate to me

I use a mac and opening fl on there was like torture

It just always seemed like so many moving parts and i couldnt figure out how to do basic stuff

Since using ableton ive now realised a lot of that was just normal DAW / plugin stuff anyway so if i was to switch back i reckon i would get to grips with it but again the software itself is just nowhere near as nice to use

that makes sense, learning the basics is a lot easier when finding the controls isn't the thing stopping you. are you building in arrangement view from the start, or putting ideas together in session view first?

Always arrangement view. I like to place drum hits down manually as audio clips

Session view ive never really touched other than to do some panning

makes sense with the audio hits. one handy thing for trying little gaps/fills: select a hit and press 0 to switch it off without deleting it. you can try stripping a few hits out at the end of a phrase, then turn them back on if it loses the groove. keeps the original pattern there while you experiment

Hell yeah f*** session view lmao

I also put down drums as audio clips I hate midi for drums ! Except hi hats

    hello, i'm gbaflame

i was on the OG KTT site back in the day 2014-2017, mostly lurking and stuff of that nature, but i did contribute to an OF Sxn tape specifically volume 3. it was actually my first time getting a placement on a mixtape, which was pretty cool at that time when i was starting out on music

i started off with vaporwave type stuff in 2015, but after a break in 2022 i made the conscious effort to start making original music. i kept at the production game learning fl studio, and learning my way around the piano roll as a result.

in 2024 i dropped my first project "Dreams 19-23" and later that year released a follow up, titled "The Journey". I followed this two releases a year method with 2025's "Superior" & "Deltaflame", and this year's "Peace Walker" and "Neo-Neuro".

i really enjoy making tracks— it's still a learning process to me and i do my best to try and figure out what can keep a track going, even if its a repetitive one. i've always enjoyed a wide range of music growing up and in my adulthood, so it's just great to express myself this way.

below is a link to my DLCM, where you can download my albums off bandcamp for free thanks to download codes. i'm also on streaming, if you prefer that option as well. linktree is below.

thanks for listening and i really do appreciate being here again, hope to make some connections with vocalists and co-producers— been meaning to experiment with different genres

welcome back. I rap and produce too. when you say different genres, what direction are you hoping to try with vocalists?
