a lot of free sauce in this video

Releasing my latest album has really left me with an empty feeling and maybe an inside into the fact that I am not good at making music and that I am not creating a meeting between me and the listener, because I don’t really have any.
That fact has made me feel fatigued and I don’t know if I will ever release a song again

Atp the only reason i make music is so i have music to listen to. Tryna blow up an s*** is too much, even having a niche fanbase seems impossible unless youre like lucy bedroque

I feel you
That is the place I need to get to
I used to be there
But then I began studying sound design, used allot of money in equipment, some of my friends got success and fame, and I did not wanna go back to a regular job.
Long story short, I got burn out and went down mentally.
Now I am good place in life, so the feelings from my first post surprised me.
Thank you for your post and reply
It’s a reminder as of where my head needs to be

Yea i tend to oscillate between being extremely obsessed and feeling burnt out, thats probably how it is for any really devoted artist
Jus gotta trust the process and try to find inspiration from dope s***
Cant believe i just realized i can put hardcore on the 808 instead of fruity distortion....
Ts will change ur life

You could also start with using one in your DAW, just to get a taste of it

You got any tips for learning how to use this behemoth? Eventually want to get one, but I’d like to get a better understanding of the workflow first.
Feel like my dream setup is having the octatrack as a hub for my digitakt II and some type of hardware synth—and using it all to quickly sketch tracks before opening a DAW

Despite owning one for 5 years, I never actually managed to get it to be part of my workflow. It's just a fun machine I'll play around with here n there. I'm too attached to in the box that I don't use the stuff I own. I even own a digitone and stopped using it years ago. I just like doing everything inside ableton. but there's always cool s*** people be doing with elektron products im like damn maybe i should use mine.

Hell yeah, brother. I appreciate the effort you put into this post. I’ll check these resources out.
And I feel you workflow-wise. You gotta do what works for you. Ableton is mad powerful but also pretty overwhelming to me, so starting ideas in the octatrack and fleshing them out later is pretty enticing
i stopped giving a f*** if my sounds are in the same key
this s*** sound so slimey

U know how when u make a loop it will be in like a minor or whatever
Like literally having melodies from different key/scale in the same beat

ahh, i never really do that i tend to keep my sounds in the same key. sometimes ill deviate and make a melody using the pentatonic scale.
sometimes ill use borrowed chords if i want that feeling, or use notes out of the scale to achieve something specific like a transition.
or if i want a section of the song to change key (common in ballads)
but generally for my loops i dont go outside the key im using. occasionally a note outside the scale will just work

Yea i mean i dont force it but lately ill just make melodies without really checking their key/scale and if it sounds good and i can still identify what key the song is in then ill usually let it rock, sometimes that atonal stuff has a really interesting sound that meshes well with distortion
