In what world is fighting 3 times in 3 months to start your UFC career, coming back from illness, beating Meerschaert, Li, Burns, Holland, Usman, Whittaker, & DDP to a 15-0 record, for the most part making it look easy & losing a close fight split decision to Sean Strickland a disappointment? I dont even like Chimaev but huh? Even typing that s*** seemed silly
Guy beat contenders, 3 champions, literally crushed one of the greatest MWs face in rd 1 & narrowly lost a 5th rd to a Split DEC loss to Sean Strickland. What are we doing here?
If you convinced yourself he was some God level fighter, thatās on you lol these post fight overreactions are always ridiculous.
In 2021/22 if you told someone that Khamzat has a real chance to retire without a title defense they would obviously be disappointed i dont think thats crazy to say
I bet on Strickland so I'm glad he won but that's got to be one of the most sus decisions of all time
133 to 98 strikes Strickland
46% to 6% advance Chimaev
8 take downs to 0 Chimaev
7 min control time to 4 mins Chimaev and he lost?? LMAO
Make that make f***ing sense bro
Came here to say this
Thatās not how u beat the champ lmao
Paramount gave the judges the script, garbage as f***
Khamzat won that fight tbh
Without a doubt

Sean won the majority of rounds thats how it makes sense

That s*** abt the champ is nonsense. Dude completely abandoned the ground game for entire rounds and played right into Seans strengths. He knows he lost which is why he put the belt around him

I never expected him to make many defenses if he ended up with a belt, whether it was 170 or 185.
Heās always had trouble making weight, and he started off bouncing between 2 weight classes. Thatās usually a telltale sign that fighter isnāt gonna defend their belt long if they win one.
Thereās no way Khumshot lost to Strickland
Nah he lost in a close fight, judges got it right
Really? Idk...what makes you say that
Iām exaggerating a bit lol
I have to watch again and see which rounds Iād give to who, but I just donāt think walking backwards and throwing reactionary jabs to consistent pressure the entire time should have won him the fight. Not when compared to what Khamzat has going for him (takedowns and forward pressure the entire fight as well as plenty of standing strikes of his own)

So you didnāt watch the fight yet?
Khamzat has like 8 or 9 takedowns credited to him, but like 5 of them at least are just tripping Strickland down to one knee against the cage. Or a quick trip and Strickland popped back up within like 20 seconds. He only had like 2-3 takedowns where he got Strickland down on his back, and aside from 1 of them, he didnāt keep Strickland down for very long.

Nah I watched it
If I didnāt Iād be a complete douchebag lmao Iām not that goofy
But yeah, Iām not saying Khamzats takedowns were hugely successful for him, but even despite most of them being ineffective the same could be said about Stricklands peppering while being backed up the entire time. Like nice jabs but the guy is still in your grill jabbing you back a significant amount as well.
As I say this Iām willing to admit it was a close fight, but giving Khamzat the defense after what we saw wouldāve been far less of a surprise than Strickland taking it
Okay im coping yall got me
Mental gymnastics wont change the result

Statistics are irrelevant when you judge a fight based on who wins each round

If you don't move your head to dodge them reactionary jabs, it still doesn't look good on you. S*** jab, s*** head movement, that Strickland straight was connecting the whole fight. Khamzat abandoned the takedowns altogether when the s*** got stuffed, saved it for the fifth, tried again and it got stuffed. And just like that, he was out of tools
Not to mention Round 2 was complete ass.

In 2021 he literally āretiredā
In 2021 he literally āretiredā
I don't think it's fair for people to hold the inactivity due to COVID against him, like wtf was he supposed to do. But the thing with khamzat as a prospect was that he wasn't yet fully tested in the distance. He damn near died in the Burns fight. Also DDP managed to get top position in the fifth round of their fight. It's little things like that gang

He won those fights lol Iām sorry yaāll thought he should be a perfect fighter with flawless performances.
Even GSP got busted up in some fights.
Yaāll are wild lol

But like nobody saying he should be perfect lmao idk why you going so hard for dude, it's not like I'm completely s***ting on his run but the gas tank issue is not out of reach. Maybe when he moves up it could do wonders for him like it did Paulo Costa in his last fight
