That being said, there is no reason this isn’t ran back ASAP. Gane is ready, and if Toms eye eventually is good to go there is no reason not to run this back like in January. Tom has talked about hating being inactive and having all these layoffs between fights. Heal your eye up and let’s get this fight rescheduled.

Y’all really think Aspinall quit?? I’m kind of still on the fence myself but it’s crazy to see the majority of the fanbase and even a lot of ufc guys questioning Tom, ish crazy

ultimately it's just insanely bad optics, so the truth really doesn't matter. i like tom but he's without a doubt one of the most overly glazed fighters relative to how little he's accomplished. for the past year all the mma media and fanbase has done is overindulge on their hype for tom by saying things like how he's going to dominate the division for years to come, no one poses a threat, he's the guy to beat jon, he'd destroy poatan, he'd beat francis, completely dismissing ciryl, etc.

all that lead to them creating this aura of invincibility around tom and then it all culminates with the guy who jon ran through in just over 2 minutes, busting up his nose, stuffing his takedown and winning the round had it not ended in an eye poke, shattering everything they had built up over the last year. it also doesn't help that we see eye pokes basically every single card and fighters always continue

Nah he didn’t quit, quitting implies he should have continued and didn’t. People think you have to be a warrior and fight through everything to be considered a fighter even though it’s just a job for a lot of guys. If he told the truth and couldn’t see after the 5 minutes that’s just not being able to continue. The UFC should have better protocols or more time. Putting a 5 minute time limit after a guy gets fouled egregiously is stupid. We just saw Kevin holland get hit in the nuts and it compromised him for the fight well after he was told to continue. It lost him the fight too since they didn’t even take a point.
There’s definitely a few guys who would have continued and fought through it but not doing that doesn’t make you quitter. It’s like saying David Goggins ran an ultra marathon with 2 torn knees so if you blow out a knee and stop running then you’re a quitter.
