Guess he’s not his mother’s son when he’s got those sunglasses on. Don’t check for him.

That 'Stellar Ray Theory' beat is special. One of my favorite tracks from the album

Also p sure he's full of s*** claiming he was aware of/listened to HBO when it came out - he didn't review any griselda until like 2019, he was active on rym until late 2018 and only rated 2 records with Mach feats, no griselda, and HBO was legitimately very underground when it dropped

Top comment on the French professor's excellent review mentioned that the Kriminel chorus comes from an old Haitian song. Lyrics aren't up anywhere but after watching a bunch of videos on youtube I came across a questionable tiktok that I could shazam lmao

I wouldn't, don't see PFH as super connected to either HBO or PFP (name scheme and WSG nothwithstanding) but if I had to choose a Mach album to be HBO's spiritual successor I guess PFH would be the one

Unrelated, peep August Fanon and Defcee's new project it's really good Fanon is flawless as ever and Defcee honours his beats just wish it was longer tbh

I was going to say there’s definitely an argument to be made that it isn’t quite the spiritual successor we think it is, since this album is a complete collaborative effort whereas HBO was mostly finished by the time West even heard it, but it also has his most overt references to Haitian culture and history since HBO. It’s almost literally a successor, as the soundbites on HBO refer to a specific period of Haiti’s past while Pray for Haiti’s all seem to refer to present day Haiti.

i’ll peep you can never go wrong with fanon.

alright for me the reason why it actually feels like a successor to hbo cos firstly there’s a lot of overt references to haiti both albums got that also it’s got that griselda sound like hbo too however it reminds me of pray for paris cos both feel like summery albums and less like their previous efforts where it’s a lot more winter type music imo

You're both right I didn't give enough credit to the two projects having the most overt references to Haiti and Haitian culture but I don't think it really sounds like or is trying to be an HBO 2 at all.

Putting spirit aside and looking at the sound, as much as I love HBO, I'm also glad that it doesn't (to me) sound too much like it. In terms of mainline Mach projects I really like that they're all quite distinct - obviously you can draw parallels and make comparisons between the projects but to me at least HBO/GAT/LH/FDM/WKJ/TLT/PFH sound pretty distinct and cohesive as they are and there aren't really many tracks that could "fit" on any one of the projects. Until Mach starts letting us down with new sounds I'd much rather have him keep innovating and surprising me than making HBO 2 or WKJ 2. Rant that nobody asked for over.

Damn Messiah's incredible too and nice to see him under such a great label - has that stuff been announced
Didn't Messiah do prod on Dead Money? That's an all time Armand hammer track for me

Fr. And nothing official yet, but both Defcee and woods have announced it informally on podcasts.

Can’t remember if anyone’s mentioned it but is “Kawsality” probably a reference to this guy? He is from Jersey.
