Craven's stock keeps going up in my book - the BLK $ loop is so addictive, would love to see a full Mach x Craven project
Also no surprise he had the best beat on Medhane's (pretty mid btw) project that dropped today
BLK $ the best beat mach has rapped over imo, and its like the simplest one as well
Those details that are missing in PfH are what make Haram so good to me. The smooth transitions, the soundbites from movie clips/interviews, etc. just raise the quality of the album so much to me. Also felt like Haram had such a variety of sounds that every song and idea was fresh.
PfH kinda suffered from lack of transitions, and some songs could’ve used a beat switch or an extra verse here and there.
Also I feel like the first half just eclipses the second.
100%
To me, Haram (and Brass) have set a new bar for polish and variation that is very hard to compete with.
But yeah I am very glad PFH is as good as it is. Mach had a lot to prove with this one imo. He turned up no doubt.
I suppose I don’t love the “Squeaky Hinge” beat either @710sup but I don’t hate it either, and I like the lyrics. But I also don’t know that anyone else could have used the “Kriminel” beat and made quite that good a song with it.
Squeaky Hinge beat is alright but I do really like Mach's second verse. Always enjoy hearing him in his storytelling/descriptive bag

Not many (if any) touches ALC atm in that regards. Wish Mach would get the 'ALC treatment'.
Yeah I definitely find HBO too long. 30-40 mins is always the sweet spot to me. This is immediately easier for me to replay in full.
I do like all the added soundbites and audio clips in HBO though, I wish this one had more of that. The skits feel a bit inconsequential here.
And would have liked more creativity with the transitions. I really like the way the beat on Blockchain comes in after that pitch shift. Most of the others just come in and as leave as they are.
Some added texture/detailing like that would have helped.
I miss the skits man, the skits on FYI, HBO and even Luh Hertz were so good. I think the Taxi Driver skit is cool on PfH, but the other ones weren’t that interesting.
Only person I want a project with Sadhu. from more than Spook is that dude Swiv on that Gold Dust album who said “Whole squad p****; your b**** ass the c***oris”.

Yeah the Taxi Driver outro is definitely a highlight to me too. Works really well leading into the moody, noir-esque Marie beat.
DM3 is definitely not considered one of his weakest
Can’t think of any other projects on this list that DM3 is better than besides Saturday Night Lights. That doesn’t mean these five projects don’t have some really great tracks, they’re just very inconsistent

Credit to Alc but credit to Willie Green too. He's a genius on woods and Elucid's mix/mastering. Attention to detail on a whole other level.
Yes, this is my AOTY so far.
I’d say it ranks pretty high. Not only can I not stop listening to this thing, I can’t stop listening to it from front to back.
Top 3 tracks are still “Marie”, “Kriminel” and “Magnum Band”.
But now I have a question for you:
What is “rami” and why have we all been placed on it?
Think Rami is Mach i.e. nickname for Ramar
Here's Pikeezy (old-time friend of Mach's) calling him Rami - anyone know wha the bB$G means?
ESL/E$L Rami also isn't the only Rami mention we've had over the years he says "Keepin you rap nxggas on Rami" on Allen Iverson too

Yup. Musical qualities of production aside, the AH boys continue to do heavy-lifting where boundary-pushing is involved.
And yeah I’m generally very happy w PfH

Yeah definitely no one is rivaling him in that department (that and several others).

Maybe 🤔🤔
Speculation aside that fit is f***ing amazing
Haiti to me is just much more digestible than Haram. I listened to it 50+ times and still don't understand a lot of Euclid's lyrics. Would have to do a deep dive into Genius to do so.
The turnaround time was crazy but I wish Mach and West spent a lot more time on this rather than a week like West claims. Whoever mixed HWH7 should have mixed Haiti as well

I feel the exact same, concerning the mood of each album. Haram is a way more demanding/brooding listen. Still, I think it surpasses PfH in multiple ways
And yeah, seems like it would’ve benefitted from more time in the lab

Probably, but if you listen to other Alchemist albums like Yacht Rock 2, Carry The Fire etc. you can tell Alchemist is a master of transitions/sequencing (if thats what's it's called, lol).
Anybody catch that “762 from behind the flap” bar lol
Shows up again in “Ten Boxes”. Had to look it up:

I suspect it’s a cheeky double ent. 7-G 6-F 2-B
My BFG from behind the flap

I thought it was a s***metaphor, sticking a rifle clip into one of these (presuming we’re talking about “Marie”)

Defly could be. This mf is out of control
