Verse is fine but im conditioned to be blown away by every verse of his so im easily disappointed i guess

mach was nice on billy and moor mother new album i loved the interpolation of who you wit by hov an underrated hov song imo. this year was the first time billy clicked for me cos originally i never liked him other than 383 myrtle but now i like his discog he nice with it

definitely he an elite rapper and he not just one of them skilled freestyle rappers he can make engaging music too

He arguably makes the most engaging music of anyone out rn imo. Always such deep and niche references—he really makes you do your homework, just like with Mach’s music. And his work under Armand Hammer is absolutely brilliant. You should visit those projects

Only time will tell but i have faith his next LP could be up there. Half the reason HBO is so good is its length, if he were to drop another long-form project like that with some of these new connects he’s making its over.

I completely agree, but that’s also part of my concern: he doesn’t seem interested in making full on projects anymore if the last few releases are anything to go by. TLT was fairly long but that doesn’t feel like him at full capacity

Idk, seems like he’s trying to master this shorter form, which I’m not necessarily mad at because WKJ and FDM are flawless, but I do want another like 15/16 track project from the Gawd

Facts I love the shorter projects for how loopable they are but nothing will ever be as good as a long ass project full of classic tracks — HBO, FYI, GAT and LH too

dude had a LOT to say on HBO. not that he doesn't now, but we hear bars and ideas repeated in HBO/other work from 2017 that he used in verses sometimes 5+ years older. it seems like the culmination of easily a decade of writing, freestyling, trial and error, drafts, woodshedding, life experience. knowingly making his introduction. no doubt we'll get another album, but its gonna be a couple years, and we'll definitely get madvillainy syndrome expecting it to be HBO 2
