yes for sure luh hertz is a special case though
imo there are few other mach albums that facilitate a track-run like the gat of just banger after banger
come to think of it ive never actually ranked his whole discography. imma make a tier list
No one in particular I really like that style tho I thinks that probably what hip hop is gonna sound like as a whole in a couple years
maybe on a large underground scale but i doubt labels wanna go back to clearing samples

in my ideal music industry sampling still exists but is overshadowed by a new wave of producers making their own fully fleshed out tracks and chop them like samples
Fahim bout to hit us with that snoozer

This is definitely already happening, producers making original loops of music and selling them to other producers to sample.

Right for loops and melodies and s***
I have this idea to get a band together and record a bunch of mediocre soul records and then chop em up, would be so sick

There’s something about the found art aspect of sampling that I don’t think can quite be replicated, though, and, while I know the artists being sampled never give a s*** about this and just want their money, I love the way sampling bridges generational gaps, pays homage and turns new people onto old music. That being said, I’m sure if you recorded and chopped it up the right way I would not be able to discern whether something was a sampled loop or an original, haha

funnily enough that re-recorded sample idea has been tried by earl on “Ntomb” where liv.e and her producer re-recorded ntume’s “theme for the people”

slauson malone and SotC have done something similar, very cool
Fahim bout to hit us with that snoozer
I dont get why he thinks hes so nice
Hes young compared to mach so he has time but his punchlines are 60% misses

James Mtume is pretty level headed with sampling too
I seen that interview he did on sway and I sampled like 10 of his songs directly after

Not saying he's on Mach's level at all but I actually check new Fahim. I think he's better than most people give him credit for. His last couple of projects felt like he took a small step up too.
First post here is gonna be pretty divisive but...I don't think Fahim is that bad haha. To me his rapping has always just seemed to be in service of creating a certain vibe/energy. His lyrical ability is obviously not amazing, but I think he's a capable, above-average producer who can and has dropped some good music. I honestly just have to turn the Roc/Ka/Mach part of my brain off and take it for what it is

That’s kind of where I’m at with his rapping, but I completely understand people not wanting to shut that part of their brain off and grade anyone on a curve.

why bro got a piece of sheet metal hanging off his necklace

It’s a part of Mach’s music at the end of the day. He wouldn’t put Fahim on his tracks if he didn’t f*** with this sound.

Yeah, for sure. And I can definitely see people finding it hard to give Fahim that type of leeway when he's constantly collaborating with someone as hyper-lyrical as Mach. To each his own tho
Yes. He's the only one speaking english.
Not even on a language level but I mean like in terms of overall feel. Like I don’t see Navy on an instrumental like that
this nigga nas really said "Unapologetically black, the opposite of doja cat" and people losing they mind over that weak ass line
