Anyway what is so wrong with this take though ? Roc marci birthed this wave of griselda records and this sound and lyrically he is as good as anybody noone ia as consistent as roc not even mach. As much as i like mach, roc with muggs had a better project than any other muggs project. Consistency speaks for itself

I think what he’s saying is that Marci’s “bars” aren’t near what Ka or Mach’s are. Roc writes just fly s***, not really extremely clever double entendres like Ka. But I agree he did pioneer this underground movement

To put these 3 on a pedestal as the only ones writing quality individual bars aint working for me no more, they all just scratching at a different niche, and its mad disrespectful to Quelle, Billy, Elucid, Earl, Akai, Navy, Denmark, Mavi, Boldy, etc, etc.. If you aint picking up that these all top tier lyricists then you aint listening hard enough.
And if we talking consistency in terms of albums you acting like Quelle aint dropped gem after gem since Shotgun and Sleek Rifle almost ten years ago. Or Billy since History Will Absolve Me.
Roc's influence is in defining a new way of sales, utilizing the internet, and minimalistic almost DIY production allowing his writing to be at the forefront. But his influence is only apparent from the last decade. We gonna ignore Prodigy? Guru? Sean P? Mos Def? DOOM? GZA? Raekwon? Ghostface? Q-tip? Busta? etc...

honestly speaking you really articulated it well and i agree with what you say, but hiphop being so competitive it really is a joy to discuss and debate about these topics.
the only way people get passionate about talking about hiphop is if their fav artist isnt mentioned in a topic, i used it as a bait.
if it werent for me not comparing you wouldnt have given this reply.something needs to be said about this that all the hiphop greats are always compared, no other genre discusses music like this
