Mac was moving real weird during swimming era tbh. A lot of the behaviour was odd. I know him passing was an accident but I feel the main focus was to make it seem like everything was okay more so than it actually being okay.

I mean now we know he was lying in the interviews because all his texts were released but at the time majority of people believed him saying everything was fine.
He was saying he was cool even tho Swimming sounded like he was still in trouble but to those questions he responded saying people didn't know when he made the songs and why he made the songs so idk.
Do you think he decided to make it look a certain way after the DUI to keep gossip and questions from media distant from his private life?
I mean 2014 Mac rapping and talking about d**** abuse created discussion in the Hip Hop world but it was kept in the Hip Hop world while 2018 Mac maybe couldn't express certain thoughts because of the level of "stardom" he reached after a relationship that was under the spotlights 24/7

makes me wonder if this is a project hiding somewhere on the internet considering he hinted at it twice

i swear I remember seeing a screenshot of his itunes back in the sanctuary studio era with either a playlist or song called your shoes untied on the screen

  • Jun 17, 2020

I remember someone in this thread saying Mac loved Ariana because of the idea of being with a Star but I feel he lowkey disliked receiving all that attention toward his private life from pop fans and media because of who he was with while the music was taking a step back to be in the background because he was known to mainstream public as Ariana's boyfriend.
The guy wanted to be known for being a great musician so I think maybe certain attention probably wasn't ideal.
Dropping an album about love after starting a relationship with the next big thing in Pop music wasn't smart tho.
I know he loved that album but he attracted an attention and a narrative around who was the album about he didn't like.
Having people trying to create a narrative about Swimming after the break up was probably irritating for someone like him.

Yes, it was posted here by Bill. That's how we found out about the project.
It was a screenshot from a scene of his tv show
It was a playlist and there was also The Adventures Of Superweirdo project and a new Delusional Thomas project

I remember you posting a quote from me i made a couple years back around the zane lowe interview where i said i think he's not telling us the full story but i hope thats out of wanting to keep things private rather than hiding/running from his problem.

I think it was probably both. It was a lot to deal with at the time and having your life on show isn't the best thing for your mental health. Gotta remember we didn't find out he went to rehab or was back on the d**** (at least it wasn't confirmed) until after he died. The last we heard from him was a TDF era interview where he said he was completely sober. Next big thing we hear is he and ariana break up and he is involved in a DUI.

He was aware how it looked and didn't want to deal with it because in his head it seemed to be somewhat under control. It really seems like he saw himself as misunderstood or the exception to addiction. I feel he kept it private to keep his sanity but also because he didn't want to admit it to himself. I feel like wanting to keep a lot of this stuff private is the reason swimming's lyrics can come off very cryptic at times.

you gotta remember his friends thought he was gonna die during the macadelic/early watching movies lean days, thought faces was gonna be the end, ended up admitting he was a d*** addict, would end up in rehab years later just to come to the conclusion that he could handle it and knew what he was doing when going on d*** binge.

Maybe he was trying to give himself a reason (like a lot of addicts do) to continue using d**** thinking he could really find the balance of the crazy highs of d**** while being able to be sober at times living life to the fullest (basically the balance between his faces & TDF days). Thats how i always interpreted the yin yang on the swimming merch

Don't think theres any denying Mac had an addictive personality. The passion he had for love, d**** and especially the music. Applying the yin and yang concept to your addictions is dangerous and comes off more enabling his own behaviour especially now we know how hard he was going when he would go on these binges BUT I do feel like mac truly felt he had it in control even if he saw it as a problem/addiction or not.

"And what I won't tell you, I'll prolly never even tell myself"

Edit: Also want to note i don't think his death was his own fault. he was given laced d**** but that still doesn't deny he was acting very different and playing with fire.

Edit2: And I just wanna say this is how i interpreted the situation. I'm just a fan that cared. I may never truly have an understanding of what really happened.

  • I can’t even listen to his music anymore ☹️ Just doesn’t feel right

You never taught me how to heal the pain
I wish you caught me on a different day
When it was easier to be happy

  • Jun 18, 2020

Shout out to KTT1 for s***ting on Cole that day. I would've never gave Mac a listen if KTT1 wouldn't have praised Mac that day talking about him doing a 180 musically

  • Jun 18, 2020

Agree with a lot of @Bill_My_Zoot points. The weirdest part and I think only other part that needs mentioning is that yeah it does come across now that Mac seems to have blurred the lines of his state of addiction, thinking he had it under control, it’s still tough to believe that based on how strikingly self aware he is. I’d probably personally chalk it more up to him not trying to worry anyone. Again, we’re just fans on the outside looking in but Mac is just one interesting mind to talk about

Can't believe this album is 7 years old it really changed my life and was part of a transformative time for me when I really found myself in high school. Been feeling super anxious thoughts or existential dread about time and age for this past week and this turning 7 years old today did not help me lmao

He ride around heaven in a 69 convertible
No shirt beneath the purple coat
Known to get surgical at the turkey bowl
He throw a baseball like a motherfuckin girl though

    Mac on The Bargain(Faces Era)

this was once my favorite mac album but everything else he dropped after was such a evolution of his already growing artistry that looking back now WMWTSO was really just the beginning of that "arc"

    thank you mac.
