Which songs do you think could’ve been cut? I’ve always thought about it but every song is so damn good I can’t imagine the album without them
good am is a bit of a strange one for me, i kinda keep changing my opinion on it depending on how i listen to it.
As an album listening experience from front to back concept wise it feels like it should really end with godspeed/when in rome (the finally awake moment) but it seems to drag on a bit and kinda goes back on itself concept wise but with that said all my fav songs to go back to are after when in rome lol.
If im going back through it and picking the odd song to go back to stuff like time flies, in the bag dont get played as much not a big fan of the singles like weekend or 100 grandkids although the songs are fine. Festival falls a little short for what the concept is. wish there was one more verse from mac and Jump's sample not getting cleared and being replayed to into some mid 2010's pop dance instrumental ruined it imo. OG Version leaking really showed the true greatness of that song.
I know there was soooo much music he was making at this point and was struggling to pick and none of the music he chose was still good but i'd be lying if i didn't sy some of the leaks from this era are way better than some of the songs we got on the album imo.
Again no bad songs so no hate for whatever you enjoy.

GOOD:AM mostly falls off towards the end imo. And you're right, Godspeed feels like the peak/conclusion of the project but it's in the middle

for sure, for example i like cut the check as a song but within the album conceptially it does feel like 'weren't we just here 6 songs or so ago'?
Maybe thats to represent that he's going through ups and downs and still is struggling? if that is the case this concept was done waayyy better on Swimming.
that happy conclusion with god speed/when in rome following up with what seems two random songs (concept wise) ROS & Cut The Check and then pulling out the last three song sequence to represent feeling suicidal (Ascension), suicide (jump) and then heaven (festival) just feels so clunky and honestly like he was trying to do a bit too much. mac confirmed himself thats what the last three song sequence is meant to mean that and it feels like it kinda undermines the moment of clarity that godspeed is supposed to be.

why the deluxe GOOD AM dissaperead?
Got released early by mistake. It’s dropping officially on the 14th I think
Crazy he just had these sittin on a harddrive somewhere
God damn what a mess of a roll out that was lol but my quick two cents on the bonus songs.
Royal Flush - was actually one of my least favourite leaks when I first heard it. Still not my favourite but I dig way more for whatever reason. Think there’s some additional production here from the leak? Sounds better to my ears.
Cable Box - was expecting the official release to have a way heavier bass and kick on the mix but still a super solid song. Glad it got released.
Carpe Diem - surprised this is a good am era song. Always sounded like a post-watching movies pre-faces to me but again another great song worth releasing.
Glad the mac estate have stopped worrying about releasing music that already leaked. Songs worth hearing.

Song is a conversation between Mac and his addiction personified as a woman. He's telling "the woman" to clean herself up, stop spilling liquor, only to shortly after accept that the "mess" is inevitable. He asks her for validation in wanting more, similar to in "Came Alone," where Mac says "never satisfied always wish I had more."
He ends up eating a tainted apple, even though part of him tells him not to. The addictive part of him ("she") has taken over and his addiction becomes indistinguishable from himself. This merges the two theories about Mac's previous personfication of addiction as women and personification of women as HIMSELF—his addiction has become so integral to him that it is taking over. "She" might as well be Mac.
Inverse the first few seconds of the beat, it'll sound similar to Woods. Listen to the lyrics of Telescope/Woods. Try to Play Telescope into Time Travel. You'll see why this track is so meaningful to Mac's legacy and discography.
Enjoy.
u know if that discord is back in any form?
