So so soon
I love the fact that they’re doing such a great job at adapting Morrison’s run. When I read that s*** I was just like
i have a question that I think one of you might be able to help me with, I've always enjoyed comics but I've never really tried to get super into it because it's pretty intimidating when you think about it
I feel like I enjoy myself more when I just focus on specific stories and characters and don't worry about how everything connects in some giant universe, but I also feel like I'd be missing something if I don't focus on that. So what's better? Do I just pay attention to specific story lines for specific characters (seems much easier) or should I honestly try to learn how these giant universes of characters and stories all connect (Seems very overwhelming/confusing but potentially very rewarding and interesting) ?
Edit: I don't think this applies to most indie comics as much, I'm mainly talking about DC and Marvel

Giant universes get confusing fast so if you have no real desire to focus on that I'd just say focus on just the characters you want. That's what I typically do for the few Marvel books i follow but i'm kinda more in to DC universe stuff but not every single thing.
It could be interesting for sure but it depends on if you end up genuinely liking it. I guess maybe you could test out a major event or something and see if you enjoy reading it? Any examples of characters you follow? Its def ok to just follow single books tho for a lot of characters you'll be caught up to speed in that book or you won't be affected at all

I've always loved comics but began to seriously read them like 4-5 years ago. I was lucky because that was around the time DC Rebirth came out, which was meant to be an entry point for new readers to a certain extent.
Like @YANDHI mentioned, you should try and figure out what characters you gravitate towards the most. Once you do, you can hit me up and i'll give you some recommendations on where to start or essential reading.
I know that after i started pulling everything from DC Rebirth, i went back and started to read stuff from DC's New 52 reboot in like 2010-11. That to me is the best starting point for newer readers who want to get a good grasp of the universe or start reading something DC universe related. Soon after that i just fell into the rabbit hole and went back through time and read through a TON of s***. IDK if you got time like that, but yeah lol
Bro you see the villain line up for Doom Patrol S2?

i've tried reading a couple DC events.
Darkseid War - tbh I can't remember much about it, I just remember it made me want to read that Mister Miracle Tom King series so I don't regret it.
Forever Evil - was kinda meh to me EXCEPT for Rogues Rebellion which I enjoyed a ton
Doomsday Clock - I've only read up to issue 9 because for a while that's all they had on DC Universe, they added 10 but I haven't read it yet. It's cool I guess, maybe I don't get as much out of it as other people do because I haven't read Watchmen.
As for examples of characters umm, Green Lantern is cool. I was reading all the Geoff Johns stuf but I got bored and stopped once it got to the New 52 reboot stuff. Forever Evil Blight made me interested in Constantine, I heard his vertigo stuff is cool but the DC main universe stuff sucks.

DC feels a little more manageable to me because of New 52 and Rebirth, but can still get a little confusing if you try to focus on too much at once. Marvel is way more confusing to me, but that's probably because I've barely read any Marvel stuff.
The X Men always seemed cool, that's why I started reading Powers of X and House of X, and I know after that I should read the Dawn of X stuff. I would be interested in any cool story lines/series that came before that I guess, but I feel like if I try to look into that right now it would be too much at once.
I grew up not really liking Spider Man but then I played that ps4 game and it made me like him way more. Definitely want to read some Spider Man stuff but I don't know where to start.

Yeah both DC and Marvel have had big continuity issues throughout their history, so it’s not too inviting to newer readers. DC has done a much better job recently at cleaning a lot of that up.
I’d say for X-Men, I’d really start at the beginning when Chris Claremont took over, and binge through all of his run.
As for a Spider-Man, I’d recommended reading Spider-Man Blue which is a self contained story, and you definitely need to read Ultimate Spider-Man. Ultimate Spider-Man is definitely a top comic for me. Art and story is truly great, and it’s very much accessible
They need to do something with Nightwing and Batgirl, their series have been mediocre for a long time.

I refuse to fall for this again, they got me one too many times.

Lmao we not gonna see any more developments after this for another 3 years

Grayson was a good fresh take on D***. But yeah I need me a Batman & Robin series with D*** and Damien tbh. Morrison’s was goat

I loved Grayson, it has some of my favorite stories outside of his Batman stuff. They need to get the dude that's writing Daredevil to revamp Nightwing.

Yeah it was such a unique take. Loved it. Who’s writing Daredevil right now? Haven’t paid much attention over there
