If the democratic party voting base is just now slowly becoming interested in left-leaning ideas, and you have no interest in them, then I don’t think you qualify as a left-leaning person.
I don’t control what’s popular man. Where I land in the political compass is much closer to Biden than it is to AOC or Trump. Put me wherever you want in your head canon.

I think they realistically have two choices:
1. continuously chase the republican party further towards the right and still positioning themselves as the more “sane” and “ethical” choice
2. actually move left and embrace leftist ideas. the main issue here is that lobbyists and PAC’s don’t want to fund these things because they’re generally against their interests. i go rinky dink when we link

If the Democratic Party is towards the far left side of the compass (as it’s heading now) vs. the Democratic Party being much more towards the center (as it was in say 1990).
Like if someone like Hitler somehow took control of the Democratic Party today, it would move the party far right across the compass. It wouldn’t make the far right be the new left though.
Gay marriage would have been far left in 1990 (much more left than the Democratic Party at that time) and now that idea has moved center. And the current Democratic Party is much more far left of it.
