The move works like this:

Poster: “That sounds like someone who is compulsively checking/posting but pretending they aren't.”
Result: Instead of debating whether Person A actually spends much time there, the poster makes their denial the punchline.
There are a few likely motivations:
To mock them: The “gooner” comparison is deliberately provocative and embarrassing.
To challenge their credibility: They're implying, “Your behavior doesn't match your claim.”
To get a reaction: Sexualized insults tend to provoke defensiveness, which may be exactly what the poster wanted.
To establish social dominance: Rather than seriously addressing the claim, they're putting the other person in the position of having to defend themselves.
Possibly genuine observation: They may actually think the person is unusually invested in the thread and are exaggerating that perception for comedic effect.
