because I think it's important to treat cultural art with a level of reverence, and I could totally see how someone would be disgusted by a song like that especially if they grew up when weirdo music like that wasn't everywhere, even if the artist has a deep love and knowledge of the original genre and that wasn't their intention. s*** probably sounds like parody music. I kinda felt the same way the first time I heard Bladee, cause my exposure to hip-hop up until that point was limited to the trap and mainstream-safe cloud s*** that was popular at the time, along with the smattering of 90s & 2000s "real rap" albums I was spinning. I didn't get heavy into internet music s*** until like 10th grade lol.

Thank you CPH. The goal wasn't necessarily to launder Joeyy as a legitimate artist, though I do think he is. I just think it's genuinely interesting that someone like me can listen to that music without a shred of irony, while someone else might not be able to even conceive that it's not parody music at the very best, and disrespectful at worst. And that's all because of the fracturing and accelerated evolution of cultures and subcultures that the internet brought on.
