This makes me so nostalgic. I was part of a conservation group for Mexican grey wolves, which was how I first met Wayne. We were both staying in Catron county at the time. His laugh was infectious...it had a way of making you forget all about the dry New Mexico heat. We all had passion for the work, but you could tell that nature was speaking a different language to him.

I'd like to hope he at least remembers the experiences that we shared. He always struck me as the type of guy who was fully in the moment with his heart and soul completely invested in everything currently happening around him. If he does remember I'm not sure that he really even thinks about me or them.

Wouldn't it be special to be someone like that? Changing everyone all around you..becoming a core part of their human experience..and then once it's done having them wonder if they had ever even began to impact yours. For a weaker person it might even make them egotistical. I can't imagine that it has that effect on him though. He gave the impression that a fault like that couldn't even start to chisel away at his character.
