Ahhh very cute lmao, for crate you have to just let them cry but if you're there I do recommend reassuring the first 10 to 20 mins but then you have to leave them alone

If you flipflop it just makes the whole process and their emotions way worse and longer

If they're scared of like thunder or it's a thing like they think it's still "day" time (or if they are too distracted trying to always find ppl), putting a blanket over the crate can help them think/know it's night time and it'll insolate them to their "own space" - this can also be good if you're crating them during the day for like work or sumn

An important thing tho is that you need to set what the crate is exactly for, if it's like a punishment thing or if it's a genuine place of rest - you don't want to mix up signals that their place to rest is where you're also punishing them or else it'll cross wires and make them more avoidant of it - it's also usually better if you're crating often that you do it on a schedule as best as you can so they will get used to like "oh ok this is when I get in but I know for sure round this time of day I get a guarantee out" type of thing

And the last important thing, like I already alluded too, in the beginning of crating you MUST leave them alone and let them get used to it. If they're crated like in the kitchen corner or the living room or sumn at night, make sure the lights stay off for at least most of the time, and avoid letting them see you as much as you can (within reason of course, if they hurt themselves where you must check or you must go to that area for sumn then of course go). That way they don't think they're getting out before they're used to the routine and that don't get excited and restart the whole process of relaxing and sleeping - you will also learn of their cries of which cries are legit like "I actually have to go to the bathroom", "something is actually wrong with me" and "I'm just crying to throw a tantrum cuz i don't wanna be in here" etc. Then about a week to maybe 2 on average they should be really used to it, n of course as they get older they will more likely not need the crate as much, so when they cry just reassure yourself too that it's all temporary and the quicker the bandaid is ripped the quicker everything will be.
