i love starcraft so much man. it mogs any sport or videogame in entertainment value to watch imo
only issue is the learning curve to be able ot undertsand what youre watching lol. but its not THAT bad. pokemon, wow pvp, learning curve to undertsand what youre watching is a lot higher. even if the skill cieling on those games is significantly less
like counter strike for example, does require a lot of strategy. its like planning out a 5v5 skirmish in starcraft but every unit is a real person. but the races are the same and the only variable is the gun. and u have to aim well. the skill ceiling is much lower.
in moba like league, the skill ceiling is just way lower (which is why it popped off in the mainstream so much) because you dont have to macro (managing your base) at all, you onyl control 1 unit, with like a half dozen attacks. the whole game is micro and team coordination. starcraft has almost element of a moba + like dozens of others. which makes sense, because starcraft custom games INVENTED mobas
long story short
starcraft 1 is so hard because its skill cieling is the highest of any multiplayer game

not even close. starcraft was what taught me as a kid, I cant actually do anything I want. some people they realize they cant get into the nba, or a princess.
I learned this at 14 playing starcraft lol.
i got into platinum in starcraft 2 when I was 14-15. which is actually pretty good for anybody and I think for a v young kid is extremely good.
its like bronze, silver, gold, plat, diamond, masters (top 1%), grandmaster (top 250 players)
a kid in plat, which probably like upper 30% at least, is pretty good ngl.
also back in my day, diamond was the highest, there was no masters or grandmasters. so it was probably even harder to get into plat.
but starcraft 2 is easier than brood war. its still probably the second highest skill ceiling of any game (except maybe like age of empires or warcraft 3 maybe… those are other rts)
i never played brood war really. I played warcraft 2 and 3 instead during the era when starcraft 1 came out and didnt start playing startcraft until sc2 came out in like 2008sh.
but Ive watched so much brood war and played it casually that i undertsand it enough to watch. Im more out of the loop in modern sc2 (which died) than with brood war (still one of the msot popular esports on earth)

youre honestly a pretty big gaming person dam
did u ever play esport games like that or watch them??
a little as a teenager
i used to play smash bros (brawl and melee) and watch the competitive stuff, i went to 1 tournament
and i played league and used to follow the competitive scene for a few years
still proud to this day that i got low diamond rank once as a high school

i am yeah. huge passion. my dad played games his whole life, bought like pong when it first came out, owned some fo the first home computers etc.
so when he had me they let it rip. I learned how to read from playing videogames in the 90s, which at the time was super unusual. I dont ever remember not playing them. had a contrôler or keyboard in mouse i my hand when i was literally 3 years old. i was building computers at like 13.
i play games everyday, cant imagine my life without games! best memories of my life!

thats awesome! thats like the other side of the esport world i never ventured into.
never played league. i had melee when it first came out and played it with my friends but never followed the competetive scene or played any fighting game competetively. all i know are the 6 gods and thats it!
smash is crazy hard

paper mario (og) is my all time favourite game.
half life 2
world of warcraft
mario 64
pokemon emerald
paper mario #1, cant decide or rank the others, but thats def the top 5. a top 3 was too hard i was grieving leaving out 2 of those
how about u?

all the main fighting games are extremely hard. the reflexes you need are almost frame perfect, so much strategy and counters and everything. theyre bonkers games.
i watch streamers i like playb street fighter 5 if there isnt much else on, but i dont undertsand whats happening other than health bar go down = lose lol
My boi clean @Stankie @Tubig @BAMSKI_backshots
My sport is beautiful

my all time fav is civ 4
then rollercoaster tycoon 2 and league and melee
i also wanna say, when i say the skill cieling is higher, im not saying the other games arent impossibly difficult as well. its just like the ceiling on counter strike, after you learn all utility throws and team strategies, and fundamentals like movement, youre limitation is just twitch reflexes to shoot.
not saying shroud isnt talented or i could beat shroud.
but in starcraft, theres just 10X the amount of things going on to juggle.
i would argue that flash (lebron of starcraft) is more skilled overall than people who are good at any other game tho
we played some warcraft 3 in my computer science class in hs when the teacher wasnt looking

my all time fav is civ 4
then rollercoaster tycoon 2 and league and melee
these are extremely fun picks.
i got civ 4 when it came out and its also one of my favourite games of all time. its perfect.
rct2 also one of my fvaourites. obviously
and melee nothing needs to be said.
league many people have lost their life to it even tho i havent played lol i have to respect it, obviously it has MASSIVE pull.

huge W warcraft 3 changed my life really. 10/10 perfect game
if you enjoy league i feel like youd also enjoy wc3!

lotta real ones are rocking with league
lotta real ones are rocking with league
ya ppl love it.
i tried mobas when league came out. i played dota 2 for like only a couple hundred hours when it was released. but i just couldnt get into them.
credit to them for blowing up esports and streaming tho. they took it to another level for sure!
i think a lot of my aversion is that its a team game. i dont like playing competetive pvp team games because i either lose because my team sucks or win because i suck and my team is great. but like 1v1 games i have no excuses for the outcome.
but that applies to all team games, not just mobas. i didnt like irl sports either other than diving ( a non team sport)
