it really felt like a gimmick album ngl
i dont think the man that singed there is talented when it comes to vocals
it does but it is like the opposite of a gimmick album. his other music is all normal. and he is a bonkers talented musician. and that album did so many new things that influenced modern music afterwards.
its pretty much helped create punk music (not that punk music copied the album, but the ethos and mentality of how it was made) and also influenced or helped create post punk, no wave, experimental rock.
there are many many of the top bands in these genres that credit the album as one of their favs of all time and influenced them.
I think it sounds gimmicky because other people tried to do that without a strong musical backround and failed so many times it became corny
