its because the 80s was fueled by cocaine debauchery and was purely hedonistic and now everyone is too uptight and serious to have a little dance

Phones and social media ruined dancing 100%

whatever drake hate i hear isn't about not liking the music it's like "he's too old to act like this" or "he has writers" or "he's a groomer" or "he's cringe" it's never on if they like the music

    true true

  • Kodak Spice

    absolutely not lol

appreciating good art no matter the genre is poptimism

glazing all of a slop of what agenda? that post dont even make sense whats the agenda?

To me, poptimism has gone from appreciating overlooked pop music to accepting almost any artist uncritically in the name of an agenda.

Same thing happened in hip-hop and now everywhere you look they say it’s in decline

  • Bruuiisees

First three drake albums didn't get bad reviews rlly

all of them plus so far gone was best new music on pitchfork. the writers and meek beef did irreparable damage

    o please

I think I’m on the fence tho cutie pie might be right.

Like we have so much access that we never had before, the media cycles have never been quicker, new music is constantly accessible and constantly posted, artists just pop up and die so quick (even if not permanent) because there’s a new toy every few weeks.

Gotta be much harder to capture an entire generation now.

    Ya

It's when he switched up to the more trap inspired sound that they turned on him

it is true that ppl r always constantly comparing themselves to others but i think ppl put themselves down more than they put others down

disagree people literally tell random people online to kill themselves over a different opinion

Sure and the moment she dropped that for her follow up she flopped

I will not take your revisionism narrative on that album at this time

shes gotta come back sooner rather than later

she cant have like one of those corny 4+ year break off the back of that album

even tho i think album itself is actually pretty good just talking in terms of career trajectory and timing

do you guys think the next MJ/Taylor Swift/Drake level of artist is already out/on the rise or not yet?

“Level” being the length of time at the top, the scale of their success relative to their peers, a dominating artist.

it'll more likely happen in pop than in hiphop

  • Like a Camillimane

i think it used to be like we'd look at a person/figure/band and be like wow one day that can be us doing that, anything is possible

and now we just look at people doing these things and go "that isn't far, this person f***ing sucks and didn't deserve it"

the general conscious has become a lot more jaded, we tear down public creators because we're dissatisfied with our own lives/role

people absolutely lash out at talented people theyre jealous of because they hate their own lives. its one thing to like dislike some art, which is normal.

but the s*** people on twitter do its genuinely mentally ill and makes me undertsand why there was flash mobs lol
