I think it's really easy to be a s***ty music critic and find a livelihood doing that, like I bet it's easier than being a bad construction worker, but criticism on its own and critique and music dissection will always be really interesting to me, and I think places like Pitchfork losing their edge despite their many, many,
    flaws its still a loss

end of the day their job is to bring attention to their publication and articles

extremism either way brings more clicks than a balanced educated take

for me with critics, like obviously anybody shoudl be allowed to say what they want about music, even if its ass.

but if you arent able to make art on the level youre critiquing, I dont value your opinion. at least not anymore than a regular fan.

if you arent listening to the thoughts of people who actually make music, just getting opinions from young people really tapped into whats up and coming is the most “valuable” perspective wise imo

for sure, especially now more than ever. every click counts it's not like you can just buy a magazine for five bucks and only read the articles you want

just funny to me, I've lived to see the tides turn from you like pop music? that stupid NPC s*** for GIRLS you f***ing poser to if you don't think every Britney Spears album was a retroactive classic that you're suffering from internal misogyny

honestly I think this is a common held opinion and I get where you're coming from
