If you have a connection towards someone’s work and how their work impacted you even if you don’t personally know them, that can be an emotional thing when you realize you will never see new videos of that person or new posts and you’ll always be reminded that they’re gone for the rest of eternity.

I don't feel personally connected to any artist no matter how much I enjoy their work so I would not be super upset

Subjectively I understand where you’re coming from and if your temperament prevents you from feeling that way that’s understandable. I do think it’s a bit condescending to say that everyone is being a little dramatic if they have an emotional affinity toward someone they are a fan of though.
