Android was cool and “open” because you could easily tinker with it and install apps from places other than the play store

Over time, Google has slowly locked down parts of android one by one, and now they’re about to block all apps that aren’t from registered developers. That means developers will have to pay and fork over their IDs for their apps to be installable on android devices, making the great third party android app stores pretty much useless.

I tuned the ones I have now to sound less like crazy bass and treble heavy

0 ads on IG and YT. ability to play a song in the background for the latter, a curated Everything App experience where it still has the bird packaging and design language, no check marks etc...

Apparently it’s gonna require some annoying workarounds PLUS gonna make you wait 24 hours after you start the process just to make sure you realllly wanna put your device into dev mode
