I heard about this
Also the story of them leaving him home while they did a show or some s*** and he was waiting for cigs
they were originally wanting to keep him on to work on studio stuff and not play live like beach boys did with brian wilson
thank god that's over

30 seconds in and this is still schizo
I guess the context I'd say for Saucerful album is
They are continuing more in the vein of the non-Syd parts of Piper. It's still clear they are trying to make some of the same music as before just without Syd
But this album is also genuinely important and innovative for psychedelia and rock music through the heavy focus of textures and spacey ambiance. Piper did that a bit too but this one pushes it further
You can make a strong argument that this album essentially invented the space rock subgenre and also is an important precursor to the German krautrock/komische scene which was important to ambient and electronic music with guys like Kraftwerk and also ran alongside what Eno was doing
TL;DR: they didn't know what they were doing but the album has a significant legacy anyway and it's still a psychedelic classic
30 seconds in and this is still schizo
its psychedelic music man this is what its gonna be like
but they stop being as overtly psychedelic within a few albums
nice piano line there
I am a big fan of Richard Wright various keyboards all over all PF. one of key elements to their sound
this him singing on this one too he doesn't sing that often besides harmonies

he was a cool guy
crazy control freak Roger Waters basically bullied him out of the band in late 70s and forced him to still contribute to that album and tour anyway as an a session musician
this one has potential
the bassline and xylophone are trippy
Syd Barrett plays one of the guitars on this one but idk even which part it is
he probably didnt even know where he was at the time
other than this song he doesnt show up til last song
Set controls is a major vibe
This sick
first album save
they didnt know how to write songs after losing their songwriter so they starting just doing some random boulshit and accidentally made classics anyway
first album save
Real rt
Real rt
the biggest classic on album
Roger Waters even did it on his concert when I saw him
Love how subdued that was while still carrying energy
schizo time
First two songs felt almost generic psychedelia
Corporal Clegg also restoring the feeling
