& either yesterday or dizzy miss lizzy i can’t quite decide on the last 1 just yet

7/10 on 1st listen, definitely their best album out of the 1st 5

i really despise their rockabilly s***..

it just seems so out of place 2 me lol

You could hear them starting to progress in their songwriting and music.

And then Rubber Soul just smacks you in the face.

yeah the lyrics are definitely better on this album

yesterday probably being the best example of this

like i can see myself skipping this every single time lol

another thing i’ve noticed is that there is just no cohesion 2 their projects

the sequencing is pretty poorly done, i know this was the 60’s but man sometimes it seems like i’m listening 2 compilations lol

That’s not really on The Beatles because back then albums didn’t really exist in the format they do now. They weren’t viewed as a body of work. They were all basically compilations although I’m sure some effort in sequencing was involved.

The Beatles were one of the first to really take the idea of an album as we know it today and create a body of work. You’ll start to see that with Rubber Soul.

They were also the first to do “music videos” with the promotional clips they shot for Paperback Writer & Rain in 1966.

cuz i’m like man if these were just sequenced a bit differently i swear it would hit different lol

i definitely need 2 check out their visual work as well, i’m sure it elevates the listening experience a bit

i’m trying not 2 be like hypercritical of their music like i usually am with other artists, i’m definitely enjoying this journey

Atleast the albums you’re listening to are the ones The Beatles intended on releasing.

In the 60’s, if you lived in America you didn’t get to listen to any of the albums pre Sgt. Pepper. They had American versions of Beatles albums where they’d take songs from different albums and throw them together to make their own Frankenstein album.
