was reading the other day how portuguese speakers have a lot more intelligibility hearing spanish than the other way around. cuz of the vowel sounds partly and how spanish vowel sounds are simpler compared to portuguese
and how written understanding is way waay more than spoken intelligibility between them either way

Yeah seen this a few times when researching learning port
Which even me I’ve noticed I understand more Portuguese than I thought just from DS and I can read enough to follow along decently well
Port would definitely take significantly less time for me to learn auditory wise than Spanish did
