I always just assumed it sucked

The fact it ended up the highest grossing DC movie ever should tell you how good of a job Wan and them did it's not revolutionary but what it's doing is really embracing what it is.

Never goes for realism just tries to make what's in the books real

Which is why it’s crazy that it works as well as it does

Has some scenes that are eye candy tho

They like did a lot of actual filming underwater (to an extent) so the cgi and physics look really cool

The pictures and commercials I saw from this movie did not make it look like this

I'm bias because I'm a huge James Wan fan and think he's prolly the most underrated genre filmmaker of the 21st century but I really do love that movie and think it's great.

I think it’s like a billion dollar top 10 or 15 grossing film

They love underwater movies and stuff

It makes 2 all the more disappointing

I wonder what really happened there or like where all the passion went. I don’t hate it necessarily but I felt very whatever about it and it had a strange tone shift

I remember all the descriptions of the movie as star wars under the sea and they were right

new DCU reboot has a big shadow to live up to (I doubt they get it right)

A James wan directed fun underwater pretty adventure that feels like a comic book?

I always have assumed it was just a dumb gritty boring movie

I think the biggest issue is the Amber Heard stuff they didn't want her in it at all and then the trial happened and they couldn't fire her so the film in general just wasn't fun to make for anyone I think.

Add on to that Walter Hamada the former head of DC and friend of Wan got fired and Jason who was close with Gunn pretty much knew he was gonna be fired and recast as his dream role Lobo....in the end everyone making it knew it was over during filming.

Like Indiana jones underwater (kinda ish)

And that is a compliment

I have not seen those movies either

That’s not to say it’s not cliche or by the numbers but it’s fun

Total opposite It's really goofy in a way no other superhero film was really until Gunn Superman recently like Wan even refused to redesign the suits to be "cooler" as WB and Snyder suggested so everyone is using straight from the comics suits

Even down to the execution and writing just not really what I was expecting or hoping for. To an extent I get and respect what they went for but idk
