Fellas, I just came back home from a nice workout, and preparing for the call with the head of company who just offered me the position. I’ve taken the past 24 hours to think back and discuss with my SO and friend on my termination from previous job. Strangely enough, my work performance didn’t seem to be a downer (Despite that being the claim for termination), but combination of my following mistakes:
Taking a half-day on Friday during the 2nd week of my job, to take a trip with my then GF (now ex). Keep in mind I did notify my boss the week before, could this have been a bad look regardless?
Breaking the in-office attendance requirements. For the first 60 days I did my best to show up in-person like they asked (requirement being 3-4 days in office). However, despite being told by HR that I’m free to work from home and only come in 2-days a week, I ended up getting dinged for not being onsite from my manager after.
Did leave the office around 2:30ish on some days to work from home for rest of the day. Apparently there were complaints from a coworker or two about that.
Hawk tuah joke in the work group chat, self explanatory really.
Last but not least, I missed a client planning meeting thinking I could’ve joined in remotely from home. They ended up rescheduling it for later that day, though I did show up at last. Was handed the PIP a day later during my 90-day check-in.
Now I’ll admit all of these mistakes are of my own making and I’m willing to take accountability. It really saddens me that I’ve stupidly f***ed up my chances big time for staying at a company who was willing to support me. As a grown man and father, I’m utterly embarrassed and ashamed of my actions. I see this is an opportunity to learn from my f*** ups and grow.
Note: The firm was going through budget cuts im supposing as few others were let go around the same time I was. Making me realize that was a factor in my termination.
I’d also appreciate advice, but the main purpose of this thread was to rant.
Start getting on ur knees and grind like her
