    yeah its odd

like i think its nice that pop albums that rule r more cohesive and average better now

but the 2000s formula of wham bam huge singles and then literal album filler and forgettable mid bland misses for the rest is so bait and switch so capitalism i love it lowkey

but yeah shoutout to brat and future nostalgia and planet her etc

    Singles sold albums

No one was judging it based off the entire thing because they could easily go and listen to it

    The radio sold it

The album could be complete crap and sell well based on singles

better era of music in general

It's genuinely that potent of an album.

    Its interesting

I feel like in the 2000s a super strong pop album was an exception not a rule, and if was a super strong cohesive album it was sort of a big deal

Rym types begrudgingly loved stuff like Justin Timberlake’s first couple

Now an album like that is expected when the genre was never really like that

we gotta stop taking pop seriously again this decade

tldr: pop is for gays and suburban white women

'Pop 2' is much more acclaimed than 'how i'm feeling now.'

mfs be talkijg about first week sales like once again back then backstreet boys and nysnc would run 2m first week but everyone was selling hotcakes in 99/00

generally pop albums dont have crazy first weeks or even matter . rihanna has more hits than any1 else and yet her albums mainly follow the traditional formula we talmbout aside from ANTI
