Still harder to pick up on tone and emphasis of certain lines
China is directly invested in benefiting from seeing us collapse
As is the US in seeing no one else rise to be a hegemonic power and making damn sure china’s model of doing it doesn’t gain too much way on the global stage
I don’t wanna get into this like that tho I was just stating my thoughts on it is all

Hmm maybe I don’t really feel that way when watching Asian movies tho

Yeah. But chinas downfall doesn’t affect me but US downfall does
yeah i dont think our regulations of this stuff is going in the right direction either (or lack of regulations)
idk what we have to do to get people to actually know and/or care about this stuff. feel like everyones just got the "i dont care they spy on me, im boring" attitude
I mean that’s kinda the only attitude you can have here bc you have no choice in the t matter
At least in Europe they ask you what data they can take from you which is interesting
China is directly invested in benefiting from seeing us collapse
facts and i would say im even a big china fan in general
like def. not on any sinophobic type s***
i want to be friends and partners with glorious China. i would also prefer they don't have unprecedented amounts of power over our political situation and culture
the main thing for me is that i dont think ANY entities should be able have the power like that, f*** big tech too
Yeah. But chinas downfall doesn’t affect me but US downfall does
Totally fair

The way certain lines are delivered (emphasis on certain words and tone used in phrasing) is important and it's harder to pick up on these subtleties when you don't speak their language

subtitles also pulls you away slightly from the movie
it’s easier to be immersed when you’re not reading every line

i think we have more choice in the matter than people think. despite the monopolies no one is forcing us to be on social media all the time, give all of our data to google, etc
still trash in a lot of areas though, like for example if you need to buy a newer car youre just f***ed for data privacy there. and obviously we basically need smartphones now
on the personal level its more of a mitigation thing then just a privacy vs. no privacy thing

I guess I just will always disagree with you two here
I’m used to hearing other languages, I’m used to subtitles, I can read quickly. I just don’t have those problems with foreign media or music idk.

I guess but as someone who has watched a ton of foreign movies
Meh. Again that kinda stuff is all baked into it, it’s a film, it’s visual. The tone is in part how the movie looks, how it sounds, how the people are staged, how they act physically. I can still get the emotions from how they deliver the lines etc.
You and nort get hung up on the language barrier it’s strange to me personally not saying yall are wrong for it I just don’t get it
