i prefer central time tbh but this is entirely based on tv schedules for sports and other live broadcasts. if sporting events and such ended 1 hour earlier i would be happy so they wouldnt disrupt my sleep schedule.

for a nationally broadcasted event (like monday night football or the NBA Finals) they try to make it work best for the whole country so it's later on east coast time i.e. 8PM to 11PM. My preference would be 7PM to 10PM which is what the central timers get.

west coasters have a bizzaro situation where the game starts at 5PM when they're still at work and ends by 8. central is ideal IMO.

are you talkin about what time zone they market it with, or what time it starts? there may be some variances in the marketing meaning i agree everything i see is labeled as EST or "9 PM/8 central". i'm talking about how they determine the start time not how they label it tho.

the oscars actually did something interesting this year - they always used to start at 8 Eastern but this year they moved it up to 7 eastern. i didnt watch live anyway mind you but this was a good time shift for my personal preference.
