Prezsee i dont consider outkast conscious really so i had not planned to include them.
i realize i am making arbitrary definitions in my head but that is part of the fun - how do we define these. i will think more on outkast bc u are right they have a lot of conscious songs. in my head they were always southern not conscious (fully acknowledging tho that this is a flaw in my thinking)
Yeah I think more of the content of the actual music. OutKast spends quite a bit of time talking about social issues on many songs. Whereas gangsta rap to me is kinda glorifying d****, guns, sex, etc. I would say 2Pac is somebody that could apply to both conscious and gangsta rap depending on what song you choose.

Agreed I think we’re on the same page.
There are some artists where I feel they’re conscious rappers and pretty much all their catalog could qualify (Lupe, talib)
Then there are the ones like Kanye or outkast or pac where select songs could apply
Like I wouldn’t play hey ya but I could play da art of storytelling

This is the biggest problem with him. Almost every interaction I have with him he escalates by being snarky as s*** and calling me names instead of just engaging in actual conversation or just moving on if he didn’t like the post
