Andy Wallace, in my mixing video course, just taught me to set up individual ambient busses for individual tracks, in conjunction with overall effect busses. The reasoning is that maybe Id want to adjust the sound of the ambient or tone of one particular track, without effecting the sound of the effects shared by all the tracks feeding into it, or effecting the main sound of a particular track that youre looking to blend the ambient sound into. Major key.
