You’re on a roll today

spam major and minor 7th chords and then go to dominant or major key if you're in a minor key for the pre chorus/chorus

Hall mark of good (formulaic) pop music

The guitar

take a regular chord progression add 1 extra note to each chord to make it sound more lush and melancholy/ambiguous and then stay on those 2-3 chords for the verses and don't change them until you get to the chorus and then when you change the chords there'll be a natural lfit and build up that makes the song drive forward and have structure/pace
