WESLEYS THEORYIt wasn’t necessarily Drakes fault. The recording he got was recorded on a tape recorder back in 1980. Very poor quality.
The song itself just wasn’t very good. The OG version is 1000x better but I understand Drake jumping at the opportunity to have a song with MJ.
Feel like the lq vocals could’ve been worked around by incorporating the recordings to work more like a sample, similar to what hov did with frank on 4:44
